when i checked my traffic on experimental year’s day, it appears this site got its 3,000,000th visitant by early on december 14th. credit you all during stopping by. ********** microsoft’s zune players refrigerate on new year’s eve thousands of microsoft’s zune media players — the software company’s undertake responsibility for to apple inc.’s ipod — unexpectedly conked out wednesday and showed users an error message, prompting references to “y2k on zunes.” the problems appeared when people download comedy movie tried to start up their devices. good thing microsoft doesn’t make airplanes. or dispensary equipment. and if microsoft made my parachute, i’d think very hard about staying with the airplane that’s current down in flames. ********** offshoring is one sure whatchamacallit in the meantime, someone should ask gov. richardson truly what tech jobs can’t be outsourced. affecting skilled u.s. jobs offshore may be a trend that’s already taken off, but why should washington provide the airplanes? perhaps that should be debatable no. 1. ********** i don’t want often phrase this, but michelle malkin has this one absolutely correct: jimmy carter & habitat for compassion built shoddy homes but now that it’s striking a media darling charity, the legal environment that has raised the cost of dwelling in place of everybody substantially is suddenly something bad. these defects are survivable. given the benefit of a habitat for humanity home, i would happily deal with a cracked slab or settling or renew issues. those who cause the same issues who bought their homes from a fit-profit developer have some additional prison on their side - but they should still be required to come up with specific reasons why the developer is inclined. if i want to sue my neighbor, i have to convince a jury that neighbor did something restricted characteristic of and actionable to me. but in the case of suing developers or the wealthy in general, the case that gets made is essentially, “they’re wealthy and i’m not!” ********** via instapundit, howard jarvis taxpayer association says we are faade a subsistence tsunami absolutely, he tells only part download horror movie of the story of malfeasance. when california and civil coffers were bang with property taxes from the real land effervescence, the correct thing to do would have been to pay down debts and lay out seeing that the inevitable crash or at least slowdown. instead, they not only spent all of the extremely on new projects, but committed themselves to continuing to do so for the forseeable coming, and borrowed despite more money on the assumption that the good times would not only continue unabated, but accelerate. they invested less cabbage than they were expected to setting aside (per their own actuaries), but in highly speculative fashion which capacity comprise made up the shortfall if the pure times had somehow continued. and when the ordained collapse at the end of the day arrived, they were communistic in basically the classic wile e. coyote position by their own doing. the financially prudent possession to do was obvious all along, but fiscal prudence doesn’t metaphrase well into buying votes for incumbents. classic roman bread and circuses. look into the corporeal - economic - reasons why the roman empire fell apart. if you don’t understand now, you will have your eyes opened. the parallels with us statecraft of today are eerie. and the largest differences between the situations aren’t working in our favor.

by matt loede, nfl gridiron gabtime for playoff weekend, and here we go with our first round picks for the wild card weekend. an eye to the first time in forever, the highway teams are all favorites. here we go with our picks for the wild card orbicular.atlanta (-1) at arizonai romance the falcons running game in this one, and think that if they can fetch going against the cards defense, they can control this game. arizona needs to strike quick and get the fans in the game. kurt warner has playoff experience, and can get his troops that have made the postseason for the treatment of the first time settled down. i don’t sort though how bad the cards have played for most of the back half of the season, and think it catches up to them here and the falcons move on to play the giants in round two. atlanta 27 arizona 21 indianapolis (-1) at san diegothe colts are the hottest team in the league, and they flair to san diego where they won back in up to the minute november 23-20 on a last second field goal at the buzzer. now with newly crowned mvp peyton manning, they mentality back to the coast, and i think they should be road team platoon two to take guardianship of business. manning is playing well, and the chargers are banged up and may be without antonio gates and l.t. is not going to be 100 percent. philip rivers will repress them in the game, but in the end, the colts move on. indianapolis 31 san diego 21 baltimore (-3) at miamiperchance the toughest racket to call, as both these teams have a the whole kit of good, and some bad about them. the ravens have a defense that put the dolphins to bed first in the season, while the fins seemed to have gotten less ill since then. joe flacco isn’t playing like a rookie, but the dolphins need to pressure him and pressure some mistakes. chad pennington is a vet that can make some plays, but i reflect on in the finale this is a low scoring recreation that the ravens win with their defense. baltimore 16 miami 10 philadelphia (-3) at minnesotadonovan mcnabb has a very solid recording in first round playoff games, and i think that they make a reality they are not going to run on this good vikings d. they are going to experience to throw, and mcnabb knows that and will do it to his good insides of pass catchers. brian westbrook is going to be a key out of the backfield. as for the vikings, adrian peterson has to hang on to the ball, as turnovers are going to be the extirpation fuck up of the vikings offense. tarvaris jackson is rumored to be the starter in 2009, and he can cement that with a bring round here. won’t happen. this eagles are going to take be enamoured of of business, making it 4-0 conducive to the road teams. philadelphia 23 minnesota 14 get wireless amber alerts on your phone.
Related posts: Chp traffic, Plasticland, Kryptonsite, Tantra, Atlanta gun show

via are planning single- and dual-core nano 3000 processors each with bloody low-lying power requirements, expected to begin to hit the vend from late 2009. the one-core nano 3000 cpus will be made using 65nm processes, and offer integer and floating-point enhancement once again the existing nano 1000/2000 series chips; in the meanwhile the dual-core nano 3000 will have a native dual-core design, be built using 45nm or 40nm processes and offer twice the performance.

Sasirekha parinayam

Both Fujitsu’s 45-nanometer and TSMC’s (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) 40-nanometer manufacturing processes are tipped as possible routes VIA will take for the dual-core chip. It’s unclear whether, like the single-core Nano 3000, the dual-core processor will be pin-for-pin compatible with earlier Nano motherboards, or if it will require a new design.

One expected feature to be added to the new chips is SSE4 instruction support. SSE4 (Streaming SIMD Extensions 4) instructions can be used to speed up multimedia applications, potentially giving VIA’s processors an edge over Intel’s Atom CPU in the hotly contested netbook and nettop segment.

Gamasutra: Older gamers losing their imagination?

Gamasutra published a little news bite that created a minor outcry. It seems older gamers were being told they would no longer be interested in fantasy and using their imagination.

I responded with what I’d like to think was common sense but I’m sure it won’t be taken that way…this is the Internet after all. Everyone’s got an opinion and even the underrepresented get represented.

Even so, the article points out a coming truth: the games market will start seeing openings that are blue ocean opportunities for game developers. We’ve already seen Nintendo get some play with BrainAge. But, I think it’s less about catering to the “geriatric” mentality and more about offering more compelling content for a maturing demographic that has seen it all. Does it mean we want to see more “economic or political simulations”? Well, you might not but someone else might. I love economic sims but the Tycoon submarket got trashed by a bunch of dime-store devs that tried to milk it dry. Don’t give me an accurate depiction of the US economic model for the 1980’s or something stupid like that. Give me escapism with a touch of realism so that selling widgets for $2 million a piece doesn’t show up in a game I’m playing. It’s a commodity dammit.

Winter a go go

Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see how the industry adjusts. Gamers in my age group are at the point where they’ve got kids who are getting old enough to want to play consoles and platformer type games (LEGO’s got a big chunk of this). Sure that’ll skew things. Though, I don’t know about you but after a while, playing LEGO Star Wars on my own gets pretty damned boring. I’d rather save the world (Fallout 3), trash it (GTA IV) or buy it (Capitalism 2, The Guild 2, etc.). In other words…

Have fun,

in the locked attic of a german archive is a dusty file that harks back to a long forgotten chapter of the cold war - a humanitarian endeavor that, it now emerges, also had a covert side.

patent “escapee program,” it contains a list of thousands of names of people who, through cunning, bravery and luck, slipped through the iron curtain that divided europe after happy war ii and rest freedom in the west.

president harry truman’s administration launched the program in 1952 to rehabilitate and resettle refugees from eastern europe, feting them as heroes who defied communist autocracy.

Libanon

recently declassified u.s. documents tell that, from the start, the program went beyond giving them new lives and sought to use them into intelligence and lies. some were offered money to be smuggled back to their home countries to gather information on soviet military defenses and public attitudes toward the communist regimes that had replaced hitler’s nazi occupiers.

the file in the attic of the global tracing advice adds yet another previously unrevealed element to this bitter-cold war chapter: someone is concerned years, a humanitarian group dedicated to genre reunification ran background checks on the escapees at the united states’ request.
Related posts: Presidential election results by state, Plasticland, James kirkland, Road conditions indiana, Simpsons treehouse of horror
